A new TV programme by the BBC questions why it has taken so long to reinstate the East-West Rail Link which could once again provide a quality service between Cambridge and Oxford via Bedford and Milton Keynes.

Questions are at last being asked more widely about Mid Bedfordshire Council's decision to block the route of the link by granting permission for a rowing lake at Willington.

Apart from anything else, the reinstated link would give people in Mid Bedfordshire a sustainable option to gain access to jobs, shopping and leisure activities.

Railfuture has been campaigning for this line for years but we have been amazed by how slow progress has been even though most of the route exists and could easily be reinstated.
