Rail users in Stourbridge have welcomed a new, faster service to London Marylebone with Chiltern Railways' inter-city style Mainline service.

From early December 2012, the silver trains from Kidderminster to London will depart at 06.09.
From Stourbridge, Mainline trains will leave at 06.18 and 06.38.

The return Mainline service to Stourbridge and Kidderminster will leave London at 17.15.

Rob Hebron, chairman of the Stourbridge Line Users Group, said: “This is fantastic news. It is a vote of confidence in this section of the line and it means Chiltern is committed to keep providing a service here.

“It is very important for the local economy that people can get to the capital and this will make it easier and encourage more people to use the service.”

Chiltern is also speeding up its Mainline service from Birmingham Moor Street to London Marylebone in December to compete with West Coast main line services to Euston.
