The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead has started a formal, statutory consultation on the Windsor Link Railway. The scheme proposes linking the Great Western and Southern branches at Windsor together and providing a connection to Heathrow airport, thus combining Western and Southern rail access to Heathrow. This online survey is an opportunity for supporters to let the council know their views - the support of the council is necessary to make this scheme happen.

The recent Davies Commission report specifies the creation of a southern rail access to Heathrow as well as the western rail access already planned via Langley, but does not envisage the solution proposed by the Windsor Link Railway, or even a western curve at Staines to allow services from Woking and Guildford to reach Heathrow. The Railfuture view on airport links is given in our article Airport Rail Links Take Off.
