A special train called the Missing Link is being run on Sunday 1 April from the Lancashire town of Colne to the Yorkshire town of Skipton.

The 100-mile round trip on existing tracks is to highlight the need to reopen the 12-mile long line between the two towns, which was closed 37 years ago.

The train will travel via Blackburn, to Whalley and Clitheroe in the Ribble Valley and then on to Hellifield and Skipton

The trains is being promoted by the Skipton-East Lancashire Rail Action Partnership in association with train operator Northern Rail.

It departs Colne at 10.40, allows people more than three hours in Skipton and arrives back in Colne at 18.03.

The organisers hope to recapture the spirit of the Wakes Weeks holiday rail specials.

The adult fare is £16 while the child fare is £11. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
