The conference will cover a wide range of topics including how London can benefit from rail freight, the Strategic Rail Authority and Transport for London policies, how to deliver customer needs and planning, land, capacity and regulatory issues.

Other speakers invited include: SRA freight director Julia Clarke, SRA South East Richard Morris, Graham Smith of EWS Railway, Bob Goundry of Freightliner, Derek Casey of London Concrete, Irvine Yass of London First and TfL board member Tony West.

Tony Berkeley, chairman of the Rail Freight Group will chair the conference.

The Government, SRA and TfL aims to encourage rail freight and this event will help the understanding of the potential for rail freight.

The conference organisers want the following to attend: Greater London Authority/Council members and officers, logistics operators and customers of road and rail freight, trades unions and conservation organisations.

The Rail Freight for London conference is on Friday 2 November 2001 from 09.30 to 16.30 at Broadway House, Tothill Street, London SW1 (opposite St.James Park Underground station).

The cost is £111.63 to include full documentation and refreshments throughout the day. Numbers are limited so early booking is essential.
