Welcome to Yorkshire!
The Yorkshire Branch of Railfuture covers railways in the traditional county of Yorkshire and, where appropriate, over the border into adjacent counties. We liaise closely with our Railfuture colleagues in the neighbouring North East, North West, East Midlands and Lincolnshire branches. We welcome members from all Railfuture branches to attend our in-person or online branch fixtures. The branch seeks to maintain a good working relationship with elected representatives and governing bodies in the region, as well as train operators that serve the area and the wider railway industry.
Branch Meetings
Railfuture Yorkshire/East Midlands/Lincolnshire Joint Branch Meeting
Saturday 12th October 2024 commencing at 1.00 pm
Speaker: Tim Bellenger, Transport Strategy and Policy Lead for East Midlands Combined County Authority
Hallam View Meeting Room, Sheffield Hallam University (directly opposite Sheffield Railway Station)
We are delighted to welcome Tim Bellenger, Transport Strategy and Policy Lead for EMCCA, to address Yorkshire Branch members and our friends from East Midlands and Lincolnshire Branches. The newly formed Combined Authority will have a key role in the development of rail services going forward, influencing many services which operate across regional boundaries. We anticipate this will be an extremely interesting and insightful presentation, after which Tim will take questions from the Railfuture audience.
To complement Tim’s presentation, Alex Forrest, Senior Transport Manager (Strategic Rail) for South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority has kindly agreed to give a short update on SYMCA work, particularly focusing on cross-border EM services and routes.
The second part of our meeting will give the opportunity to discuss matters affecting all three represented branches, including the Nottingham/Lincoln-Leeds service, other connections between the areas and ramifications of the cancellation of HS2 East. Reports of recent developments and general discussion of our priorities will also take place.
