Welcome to Yorkshire!
The Yorkshire Branch of Railfuture covers railways in the traditional county of Yorkshire and, where appropriate, over the border into adjacent counties. We liaise closely with our Railfuture colleagues in the neighbouring North East, North West, East Midlands and Lincolnshire branches. We welcome members from all Railfuture branches to attend our in-person or online branch fixtures.The branch seeks to maintain a good working relationship with elected representatives and governing bodies in the region, as well as train operators that serve the area and the wider railway industry.

Railfuture Yorkshire/East Midlands/Lincolnshire Joint Branch Meeting
Saturday 10th October 2026 commencing at 13.00
Speakers: Kevin Towle, Rail Development Manager, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority; Anne Robinson, Hope Valley Climate Action
Our next event will be a joint branch meeting with the East Midlands and Lincolnshire branches on Saturday 10 October at Hallam View Meeting Room, Owen Building, Sheffield Hallam University, just a short walk from Sheffield station.
We are delighted to welcome two guest speakers:
Kevin Towle, Rail Development Manager, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, will be speaking about various issues affecting cross-boundary services, including initiatives to improve capacity at Sheffield station.
Anne Robinson, Hope Valley Climate Action, will be talking about the “Mini-Switzerland” project, which is set to revolutionise public transport opportunities in the Hope Valley from 2027.
Following their presentations, Kevin and Anne will each take questions from the Railfuture audience. The meeting will conclude with a session of general discussion concerning matters affecting all three branches.

Railfuture have launched a Northern Powerhouse campaign for improved services that can be achieved now within current constraints, and that can be achieved in future through a coordinated investment programme, to turn the great Northern cities of Liverpool, Preston, Manchester, Sheffield, Bradford, Leeds and Hull into a single strategic economic entity linked by a fast high capacity rail network to realise the economic potential of the region as a global powerhouse.Yorkshire rail user groups
