Yorkshire Branch

Welcome to Yorkshire!

The Yorkshire Branch of Railfuture covers railways in the traditional county of Yorkshire and, where appropriate, over the border into adjacent counties. We liaise closely with our Railfuture colleagues in the neighbouring North East, North West, East Midlands and Lincolnshire branches. We welcome members from all Railfuture branches to attend our in-person or online branch fixtures.

The branch seeks to maintain a good working relationship with elected representatives and governing bodies in the region, as well as train operators that serve the area and the wider railway industry.

Branch Meetings

Railfuture Yorkshire Online Branch Meeting
Wednesday 22nd January 2025 commencing at 10.00
Speaker: Ben Simkin, CrossCountry Trains regional director, North East and Scotland
Online meeting via Zoom video conferencing facility

We are delighted to be welcoming Ben Simkin, Regional Director, CrossCountry Trains to address our online branch meeting on 22 January. As well as providing key long-distance connections, CrossCountry is also the operator of the only fast service between Leeds and Sheffield, and as such is especially important to the Yorkshire region.

We also hope to hear about CrossCountry’s plans for future service expansion following the recent influx of additional rolling stock, particularly in light of the establishment of Great British Railways and the implementation of the new East Coast Main Line timetable, now scheduled for December 2025. Following his presentation, Ben will take questions from the Railfuture audience.

The second part of our meeting will include updates on Railfuture activities and news of recent developments on the railways in our area. It will afford the opportunity to discuss important issues affecting the region.

We hope you will be able to join us for what promises to be an extremely interesting presentation. The meeting link will be sent to Yorkshire Branch members a few days beforehand. Everyone is welcome so if you know of any non-Yorkshire Branch members who may be interested in attending, please ask them to request the meeting link by sending an email to andrew.dyson at railfuture.org.uk
