Welcome to Yorkshire!
The Yorkshire Branch of Railfuture covers railways in the traditional county of Yorkshire and, where appropriate, over the border into adjacent counties. We liaise closely with our Railfuture colleagues in the neighbouring North East, North West, East Midlands and Lincolnshire branches. We welcome members from all Railfuture branches to attend our in-person or online branch fixtures. The branch seeks to maintain a good working relationship with elected representatives and governing bodies in the region, as well as train operators that serve the area and the wider railway industry.
Branch Webinar
Railfuture Yorkshire Branch Webinar
Friday 7th February 2025 commencing at 10.30
Speaker: Phil Smart, Assistant Policy Manager, Rail Freight Group
Online Webinar via Zoom video conferencing facility
We are delighted to welcome Phil Smart, Assistant Policy Manager of the Rail Freight Group and author of several policy papers for Railfuture, to speak at our webinar on 7 February. Phil has been closely involved in determining freight policy within Railfuture for many years, and has played a key role in proposals to increase capacity to and from the port of Felixstowe.
Yorkshire members may recall a previous, very interesting, webinar where Phil presented his ideas for a solution to the south-Manchester freight bottleneck – the benefits of which would reach across large swathes of the railway network.
We hope to hear about the potential for freight following the change of Government and the forthcoming structural changes to the railway industry. We anticipate another thought provoking and highly interesting presentation and we hope to see you on 7 February. Everyuone is welcome.
The webinar link will be sent to Yorkshire Branch members a few days beforehand. Any members from other branches, or non-members who may be interested in attending, please request the meeting link by sending an email to andrew.dyson at railfuture.org.uk
