Railfuture is urging that North London line services be improved by the permanent re-instatement of the route through Primrose Hill.

North London line services are currently going though Primrose Hill as a diversionary route while engineering work is carried out.

This diversion has been a big success with passengers because it has improved connections and provided new opportunities for commuting, especially to East London and Docklands.

Railfuture believes the diversion – which ends on 16 November 2008 – could also provide a long-term answer.

Plans to improve North London line services have been cut back by Transport for London and Network Rail even though they were included in the cross-London rail utilisation strategy.

TfL said that that on costs grounds it would cut the planned eight off-peak trains per hour to six.

Railfuture is appealing to the Office of Rail Regulation to adopt a revised plan which would provide more trains and better connections and prevent the credibility of the rail utilisation strategy process being undermined.

Railfuture is calling for two trains per hour to run from Stratford to Willesden Junction low level, via Primrose Hill, South Hampstead, Kilburn High Road, and Queen's Park.

This would maintain the promised all-day service level over the core route between Stratford and Camden Road.
