Volunteers are needed to look after wildflower meadows which have been created at Homerton station in Hackney, east London.

The Friends of the station are appealing for people with "an hour or so to help maintain the wildflower meadows by collecting litter and weeding".

The Friends add: "No experience is required as we can show you what to do. At the moment we need someone to volunteer with Mike this Monday 5 September, with Barbara on Sunday 18 September, and with Mike again on Monday 3 October."

Prospective volunteers are asked to check the events page on the Friends' website to see what other dates are available.

The Friends will also be selling T shirts and wildflower seeds on Chatsworth Road Market in Hackney on Sunday 11 September.

The aim is to raise cash for the wildflower meadows at the station.

The market is open between 11.00 and 16.00.
