A £329million contract to supply rubber-tyred trains and to help build a new 10-mile long rapid transit line has been won by Bombardier Transportation which has a factory in Derby.
The new Neihu line in Taipei, Taiwan will be largely elevated and will have 12 new stations.
Bombardier will also equip existing trains on the Mucha line with its Flexiblok automatic train control system.
The new line will open in four years time and is expected to carry 28,400 passengers per hour in each direction.
