Arriva Trains Northern is embarking on a major campaign to champion rail travel.

The company, which operates around 1,400 services a day across the North of England, will be touring major shopping centres, community events and shows over the next four months to encourage more people to consider travelling by train.

Unfortunately, some people have a very negative perception of rail travel, said Dyan Crowther, Arriva Trains Northern's commercial director.

But the reality of the experience for the vast majority of our 100,000 plus customers each day is now one of a reliable and punctual service. Indeed, our latest figures for April show that over 99 per cent of our trains ran.

We want to show that rail is an option that people should consider for both business and leisure travel. We will be handing out information on the wide range of services we operate as well as details on our exciting campaigns which offer great savings for our customers.

The Arriva show will start at the Captain Cook Centre in Middlesbrough (Friday 23 and Saturday 24 May) before visiting over 30 other locations across the region.
