A new railway station opened at Cologne-Bonn airport on 13 June 2004.

The opening coincided with a timetable change by the german national rail company, Deutsche Bahn.

The station allows an easy transfer from plane to the train.

In fact it takes just 100 steps to reach the check-in desks at the airport from the railway station.

Passengers will be able to connect on to regional trains, to local cities such as Koblenz and Mönchengladbach, as well as on to DB’s high-speed ICE route between Berlin, Cologne and Hanover.

£350million have been invested in building the station and the 10-mile long branch from the airport to the DB network.
