The Railfuture East Anglia AGM will be held in Bury St Edmunds on 28th February 2015. A flier will be going out with the RAIL EAST newsletter in early February.

On 29th January 2015 Transport Minister Robert Goodall visited Cambridge station to launch the work of the new £2.5m CyclePoint. He also lauched the new PlusBike online resource, which contains information on cycling facilities available at stations and on trains.

Railfuture has been chasing Abellio Greater Anglia to discover when the urgently needed and overdue enhancements at Cambridge station will be completed and available for passenger use. In an email an AGA Customer Relations Advisor told Railfuture that "Building work is now being carried out on the new Cycle Point and during 2015 further work will take place in the ticket hall and main station buildings. It is hoped the majority of the work will be completed by the end of 2015."

The next Felixstowe Travel Watch meeting will be on Tuesday 17th February 2015 at the Salvation Army Church, Cobbold Road, Felixstowe, at 14:30. The guest speaker will be Paul Oxley, the Area Stakeholder Manager of Greater Anglia. Mr Oxley will talk about his experiences in the rail industry and his first impressions since joining Abellio Greater Anglia. Their website is at www.felixstowetravelwatch.onesuffolk.net.

In February London Midland will be making 100,000 'Great Escape' tickets available from just £15 Monday-Thursday and £20 Friday-Sunday giving unlimited travel on its trains. Although London Midland does not operate in East Anglia it may make sense to use one of its tickets for part of a longer journey.

The Mid-Norfolk Railway will hold a Volunteer Day on Sunday 15th March. Details will be available on the www.mnr.org.uk website. Meanwhile, the Dereham Model Railway Exhibition at the nearby "Memorial Hall" and the MNR's Class 47 day will both be held on Saturday 28th February. Admission is £5 on the door for all adults, with accompanied children free. The MNR trains will cover 100 miles using Class 47 diesel locos.

GUIDED BUSWAY
Another unwanted vehicle on the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway - this time it's a London cabbie

A London cab driver who didn't know Cambridge and was relying upon his SatNav, and not using his eyes, drove onto the southern section of the guided busway and got stuck when the cab fell into the car trap, destroying two of the taxi's tyres and facing a £250 charge for the vehicle to be removed.

In another example of the long-standing support given to the 'big' railway by the Mid-Norfolk Railway, it provided facilities on 7th January 2015 to the Office of Rail Regulation (ORR), Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and Energy Networks Association to conduct training on private level crossing safety and electrical safety.

The event was staged at the MNR's northern out-post at County School, away from its operational railway. The MNR opened the station buildings in order to provide a training room and refreshments, with the adjacent level crossing being made good use of. The event enabled the parties to fulfil their commitment to the Norfolk Coroner to undertake such training.
